Stainless steel is amazingly sleek when displayed in smooth sheets. Yet adding a bit of texture can certainly make things interesting (and distract from dreaded fingerprints). A tiled surface catches the light, creating an added shine that’s more organic than glitzy. Perfect for modern kitchens! Let’s not forget about pattern play. Patterns have a great way of bringing personality into your kitchen which is great for galley kitchens that have a lot of backsplash space. Go for something colorful and vibrant if you want to make a statement or opt for soft neutral shades for a more subtle effect.
Most of us tend to stay away from black because we feel it takes away from the visual spaciousness and lightness of the kitchen. Since the kitchen is already an area of the home filled with shelves, cabinets, appliances and a whole lot more, a white backdrop is generally preferred in favor of something deeper and darker. But careful use of black in the kitchen along with right lighting can turn a seemingly ordinary space into a refined setting that is both posh and practical. A dark, tiled backsplash, cabinets clad in black or even a central island in polished black marble can usher in elegance without feeling overwhelming.
The timeless appeal of a beautiful kitchen in white and trendy panache of gray at its brilliant best – it is a combination that is bound to turn heads even while exuding understated elegance. Gray and white kitchens are set to top trends charts for a while now and if you already have a kitchen in white, then adding a dash of gray to it is all you need to jump in on this cool bandwagon. Easily adapting to different diverse styles, a gray and white color scheme brings an air of modernity to even farmhouse and rustic kitchens!
It is generally the ‘summer colors’ that agree with this style, but stronger hues also seem at home when used with restraint. Remember that whether it is pattern or color, moderation is a mantra that you need to stick to when it comes to the classic Scandinavian look. Cabinets in gentle green or light aqua along with matching chairs in the adjacent dining space take the appeal to a whole new level!
